Overview No data collection
All data you create within BookmarkTree — including bookmarks, folder structures, tags, and memos — is stored exclusively on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs.
Data Storage
BookmarkTree uses two Chrome storage mechanisms:
- chrome.storage.sync — Stores your bookmarks, folders, tags, and memos. If you are signed into Chrome with a Google account and have sync enabled, this data is synced across your devices via Google's infrastructure according to Google's Privacy Policy.
- chrome.storage.local — Stores UI preferences such as column widths. This data stays on your current device only.
No data is ever sent to any server operated by BookmarkTree or its developer.
Permissions Used
- storage — Required to save and load your bookmarks and settings locally.
- tabs — Required only to read the title and URL of the current tab when you add it as a bookmark. This information is never stored beyond your explicit save action.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Browsing history or visited URLs
- Personal identifiers (name, email, IP address)
- Analytics or usage statistics
- Crash reports or error logs sent externally
Third-Party Services
BookmarkTree does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
If Chrome sync is enabled, bookmark data synced through chrome.storage.sync is handled by Google. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle synced extension data.
Children's Privacy
BookmarkTree does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected at all, this extension is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this URL. The "Last updated" date at the bottom of this page will reflect any changes.
